Urban Limit is a rip-roaring genre-bender! For me, that's a good thing. Within a single genre such as mystery, the characters all have to play by a pretty well-established set of rules. Steve Zell's new book actively crosses genres from action to fantasy to horror with mystery and current events thrown in to spice things up. What that means is the reader never really knows what "the rules" are in this world and, in turn, that means that anything can (and does) happen. Because I couldn't predict what would happen next (somewhat unusual for me) the book became a page-turner, feeding my curiosity to constantly know what the next chapter would bring.Urban Limit takes place in the wilderness of Oregon, and Zell expertly captures it as if it's another character in the book (Oregon winter storms can transport your surroundings from beautiful to unforgiving and dangerous in a matter of minutes). In addition, the story is told from the alternating perspectives of each of four family members (and a few other locals); this really helps each character's sub-plot come alive as they experience things in parallel, while slowly providing clues to the reader on the larger picture that none of the individuals has access to. Overall, the book's action gets moving very quickly, and it doesn't slow down. On a personal note, I'm amazed at Zell's ability to bring realistic detail (without boring the reader) to so many differing aspects he included in his story (the technology industry, software development, animation, music production, fencing, Olympic training, Internet gaming, online communities, etc.).
If you can't tell, YES, I recommend this book! If you choose to read it, buckle up, keep your hands and feet inside the car at all times, and remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop! Enjoy!

I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting which is a rarity for me. I'm not an author or writer, but still wanted to write a review because this book was just that good. I love to read, and rarely find something that keeps me going. The path you took me down was amazing and disturbing to say the least. All i can say is i loved it. Thanks so much and keep them coming.
"Urban Limit" is the true definition of a page-turner. Every time I had to put it down I could not wait to pick it back up to see what happened next! As an avid reader, not being able to predict exactly where the plot is headed half way through the story is somewhat rare nowadays. This author takes the reader on a hair-raising journey with one shocking twist after another! If you are looking for a suspense-thriller unlike anything you have read before, I highly recommend "Urban Limit."
Depressing story. Too much fantasy world
The reviews I had read stated that it was a good read. However I found it to be boring, the characters were shallow and the story had no depth to it. Don't bother if you thinking of reading it.
I couldn't put this book down!!! I actually had some time to read for a change. I was hooked within the first few pages.The twists and turns were amazing. Urban Limit is one of those books that I want more of. Loved the setting..the rugged mountains of Oregon, and I enjoyed the story- it was very easy to get into from the first page. I wasn't quite sure where this story was going - which was nice, as it wasn't predictable. Didn't know if it was going to be a horror, mystery, fantasy, adventure, thriller, or something else. Turns out to have something for everyone in it! Really liked the author's style of writing. Highly recommended
Steve Zell's novel Urban Limit is a suspenseful, action/thriller that was totally satisfying. A modern, Portland, Oregon family of four moves out of the city and settles in a pristine winter wonderland, but as the weather becomes stormy and chaotic, menacing characters are introduced and the suspense builds to a dramatic conclusion. Zell integrates domestic and international concerns, making the novel thought provoking as well as entertaining. The reader will want a sequel!
